The goal of this Request for Applications is to advance the District’s sustainability, zero waste, and urban agriculture goals. The grantee will provide small subgrants to entities undertaking projects to promote these goals. The subgrant projects should fit within the programs of DOEE’s Office of Urban Agriculture and DOEE’s Donation and Reuse Program – Reuse DC.
The purpose of this grant is to fund the selected grantee to implement the SAS Grant Program by issuing subgrants in two program areas: urban agriculture and donation and reuse. The subgrants will be targeted towards small, new, and historically-excluded entities which may include businesses, non-profits, and charter and public schools. The grantee will award subgrants for two purposes: (1) the grants will advance District sustainability goals; and (2) the grantee will provide community training on skills and measures that help an entity compete for such grants.
Funding Information
- DOEE is making $190,000 available for this grant.
- DOEE has budgeted $20,000 for Year 1, $150,000 for Year 2, and $20,000 for Year 3.
- Grant funds related to work performed will be provided on a reimbursement basis.

- Nonprofit organizations, including those with IRS 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) determinations;
- Faith-based organizations;
- Government agencies;
- Universities/educational institutions; and
- Private Enterprises.
