City of Phoenix Love Your Block Grant 2025 – Arizona

Dated: April 23, 2025

The Love Your Block (LYB) program, administered by the City of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department (NSD), is for neighborhood groups and/or block watch groups interested in making a difference in their community.

Donor Name: City of Phoenix

State: Arizona

City: Phoenix

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 05/12/2025

Size of the Grant: $1000 to $10,000

Grant Duration: Grant Duration Not Mentioned

Details:

The program is designed to improve neighborhoods and increase civic engagement, with technical assistance and grant funding opportunities from NSD and its partners. LYB offers instructor-led workshops designed to provide pertinent information, resources and engagement skills to neighborhood residents, that result in collaborations and partnerships that could bring a positive impact to their respective communities

The goals of the LYB Program are:

  • To reduce blight and beautify neighborhoods
  • Engage current and new stakeholders willing to participate in neighborhood improvement efforts
  • Build neighborhood capacity by implementing a sustainable project with a positive impact.

Types of Project

  • Water-Conservation Themed Projects
    • This year, they have a new partner in the Phoenix Water Services Department, who has contributed a total of $20,000. Four grant awards up to $5,000 each will be awarded to neighborhood groups with projects that have a water-conservation theme or component. Projects that embrace desert landscapes, water-smart ways of living or have a water-conservation message are eligible. Some examples of water conservation projects for funding consideration include:
      • a community pollinator garden with native plants
      • rainwater harvesting basins and barrels
      • developing a community “leak watch” group that identifies leaks and helps neighbors fix them.
      • grass removal in common neighborhood areas with xeriscape replacement
      • mural with a clear water-conservation message/theme
    • Groups awarded funds for their proposed water-related projects will have access to a water conservation expert, who can advise and provide guidance to ensure successful project completion.
  • Zero-Waste Themed Projects
    • For the past few years, Phoenix Public Works has been a staunch supporter of the Love Your Block Grants Program by contributing $20,000 each year to help fund various neighborhood projects. This yearly contribution allows for four up-to-$5,000 grants to be awarded to neighborhood groups. Groups are encouraged to propose projects with a sustainability (recycle, reuse) theme that emphasizes Phoenix’s goal of becoming zero waste by 2050. Some examples of such projects for consideration:
      • Upcycled community art project installation
      • Tree-planting event
      • Starting a community repair café
      • Murals with a zero-waste theme
      • Community cleanups
    • Groups with zero-waste themed projects will have access to a zero-waste expert, who can advise and provide guidance to ensure successful project completion.
