The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), through its Office of Family Violence Prevention and Services (OFVPS), is seeking to award one cooperative agreement to operate the National Domestic Violence Hotline (NDVH). This hotline provides information and assistance to adult and youth victims or survivors of family violence, domestic violence, or dating violence, including their dependents.
The grant is open to applicants from all states and counties and offers more than $1 million in funding for a duration of five years.
The Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) grant program aims to increase awareness, prevent domestic violence, and provide shelter and services to adults, children, and youth nationwide. It supports improved responses from domestic violence providers through training and technical assistance, emphasizing culturally specific and linguistically appropriate services.
FVPSA funding supports multiple hotlines: a national domestic violence hotline that is free and confidential, a national hotline for the hearing impaired with 24/7 deaf advocates, a teen dating violence hotline offering confidential support and resources, and the Native Helpline, which addresses unique barriers faced by Native American and Alaska Native survivors with culturally specific resources.
The statutory purposes of FVPSA include assisting states and Indian tribes in raising public awareness and preventing domestic violence, providing immediate shelter and supportive services to victims and their dependents, operating the national domestic violence hotline, and offering technical assistance and training to a wide range of organizations and agencies involved in domestic violence prevention and response.
The total program funding is approximately $17 million, with awards ranging from $15 million to nearly $17 million over a five-year period.
Eligible applicants are nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status, excluding institutions of higher education.
