Individual Artist Fellowships support Delaware creative artists across visual, performing, media, folk, and literary arts, recognizing outstanding artistic quality. These fellowships help artists purchase equipment, materials, or allocate time to advance their careers, though funds cannot be used for foreign travel or lobbying.
The program is run in partnership with Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation (MAA), which oversees the juror selection and application review process. Fellowships are awarded competitively in three categories, offering grants of $5,000, $8,000, or $12,000 to artists based on demonstrated creativity and skill.
Emerging Professional Fellowships provide $5,000 to artists still building their reputation. Artists teaching their discipline at a degree-granting institution must apply in the Established category instead. Established Professional Fellowships award $8,000 to artists with significant achievements in their fields. Masters Fellowships offer $12,000 to artists who received an Established Fellowship in the same discipline over seven years ago.
Applicants must be Delaware residents for at least one year, verified by a valid Delaware ID and state tax filings. Applicants must be 18 years or older at the time of application. The deadline for submissions is August 1, 2025.
