City of Norfolk’s Nourish the City Grant (Virginia)

Dated: July 17, 2025

The City of Norfolk’s Nourish the City Grant offers funding for non-profit or neighborhood organizations working to address food insecurity and expand access to nutritious, affordable food.

Donor Name: City of Norfolk

State: Virginia

City: Norfolk

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: (mm/dd/yyyy) 08/26/2025

Size of the Grant: $1000 to $10,000

Grant Duration: Grant Duration Not Mentioned

Details:

The Nourish the City Grant, managed by Norfolk’s Office of Resilience, supports community-led food access initiatives. As food security is a major social vulnerability in Norfolk, particularly with the prevalence of food deserts and swamps within the city, many residents do not have easy and affordable access to nutritious food options. As this is a multi-faceted social issue, addressing the problem requires a comprehensive interdepartmental approach, as well as coordination with numerous stakeholders, such as non-profit organizations, local government, and the community at large. By obtaining resources from The Nutritional Equity Fund, which was established in 2020, the Nourish the City Grant is a resource providing opportunities for Norfolk organizations to contribute to easy and affordable access to nutritious food options, such as, but not limited to, community gardens, co-ops, farmers markets, and food pantries.
