FFTH  Priorities

The Board of Directors seeks to maximize its impact in the community and has adopted the following strategic priorities to guide its grant-making. Proposals that address one or more of these priorities have a greater likelihood of receiving funding. They’re listed here in no particular order of importance.

  • A project or program that encourages volunteer involvement among all ages.
  • A project or program that operates without consideration to race, religion, color, creed, and sex or minority status while rendering services.
  • A project or program that is a collaborative effort among other nonprofit organizations in the community and will eliminate duplication of services.
  • A project or program that is likely to make a clear difference in the quantity of life for a substantial number of people.
  • A project or program that seeks creative, innovative solutions.
  • A project or program that demonstrates sustainability into the future.

Eligibility Criteria

Grants are made to tax-exempt private agencies classified as 501(c) 3 organizations – churches, educational and/or governmental entities – who have been in operation for at least one year. Prospective applicants are urged to contact Food For The Hungry before preparing an application if there is any question concerning eligibility as proof of eligibility must be provided to Food For The Hungry before grants are considered.

  • Certain projects and/programs are generally not eligible for funding, including but not limited to:
    • Routine agency operational expenses such as payroll, rent, or utilities.
    • Projects and programs that are restricted to members of a particular faith community or that promote a specific religious doctrine.
    • To pay off any existing obligation, debt or liability.
    • Any organization or agency that has not operated successfully for at least one full year.
    • Any organization that does not operate programs in Knox County, or for the benefit of Knox County residents.
