Funding may not be used to support an organization’s general operating expenses or full seasonal programming.
Two types of Applicants
- Local 250 Committee Grants
- To support officially recognized Local 250 Committees in cities and towns across Rhode Island as they plan and execute events and programs commemorating the Semiquincentennial.
- Statewide Grants
- To fund projects with broad reach, ensuring a diverse and accessible statewide calendar of programming.

- Projects may include, but are not limited to:
- Local events and heritage days
- Historical reenactments
- Education programs
- Interpretive signage or exhibits
- Community storytelling or performances
- Public art projects
- Other creative activities that commemorate the 250th anniversary and engage local communities.
- For Statewide Grants
- Projects may include, but are not limited to:
- Touring programs
- Multi-site exhibitions
- Festivals
- Educational initiatives
- Public art projects
- Multi-community collaborations
- Digital engagement reaching statewide audiences
- Other creative activities that commemorate the 250th anniversary and connect with diverse audiences statewide.
Eligibility Criteria
- Local 250 Committee Grants
- Local 250 Committees officially designated or recognized by their municipal government or local governing body.
- Statewide Grants
- 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organizations, including regional or statewide organizations, cultural institutions, educational institutions, or coalitions of multiple partners in which a 501(c)(3) nonprofit is the lead applicant.

- Mission Alignment (tie to RI250 mission statement)

- IRS 501(c)(3) or nonprofit status confirmation
- Letter of Good Standing from the Office of the RI Secretary of State
- A current organizational budget (format flexible).
