The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (“DMPED”) invites the submission of applications from qualified organizations for a grant pursuant to the Great Streets Initiative under the DC Locally Made Manufacturing grant program.

Details:

The purpose of the Program is to encourage the production of consumer goods in the District of Columbia and add vibrancy and economic stability to the Great Streets corridors. Funding to DC manufacturers will allow them to enhance production capacity, increase employment for local residents, and strengthen DC’s manufacturing sector.

Funding Information

DMPED expects to award multiple grants under the Program, in an aggregate amount of up to $1,500,000, contingent on the availability of an appropriated budget in such amount.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria to be considered for an award under the Program:

  • Be certified or eligible to be certified as a Local Business Enterprise (LBE) pursuant to D.C; Official Code §2-218.31
  • Business may be a manufacturer, incubator, distributor or accelerator
  • Have core operations that align with manufacturing: (NAICS Code 31-33)
    • Ineligible Applicants: Businesses whose core operations include packaging, bottling, labeling, warehousing, printing or distribution without substantial manufacturing operations (NAICS 323, 424, 561910 or similar)
  • Includes an on-site retail component that sells general or merchandise goods
  • Create 2 or more jobs with a commitment to hire District residents
  • At least 51% of gross annual revenue must derive from the sale of goods that the applicant has manufactured in the District
  • Serves or may serve a community anchor and impacts the Great Streets corridor and community by its presence
  • Support existing retailers and the designated Great Streets corridor’s economic vitality by attracting new consumers and/or visitors to the area
  • Be located in or abutting an existing Great Streets corridor
