This regrant program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Its aim is to support the capacity of individual artists and nonprofit organizations to develop quality arts and culture projects and programming across the diverse segments of CNY Arts’ six-county service area. They aim to contribute to the cultural development of region and to provide opportunities for the six contiguous counties within it to experience and engage with the arts.
Categories
There are five types of projects eligible for funding.
- Community Arts Projects: arts, culture, history, or heritage projects that engage the public. Max. award: $5,000.
- Community Arts Project MicroGrants: Community Arts Projects with limited expenses, offered by individuals or organizations for whom arts and culture is a single component of a larger project portfolio. A simplified application with fewer narrative questions. Max. award: $1,000.
- Arts Education Projects: sequential, participatory, skill-based learning opportunities provided by a teaching artist, within a Pre-K – 12 public school or community organization, to a core learning group for a minimum of 3 contact sessions. Max. award: $5,000.
- Artist Commissions: for local artists to create new work; must include a form of local community engagement. Max. award: $5,000.
- Special Projects: support for projects of notable community and cultural significance. (Maximum of 1 Special Project Grant will be awarded per county.) Max. award: $7,500.
Grant Period
January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026.
Eligible Projects
- Projects must fit the parameters of one of the individual categories (Community Arts, Community Arts MicroGrant, Arts Education, Artist Commission, Special Project) outlined in these guidelines.
- Projects must take place within CNY Arts’ six-county service area (Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, and Oswego counties), and in the same county as the applicant (or fiscal sponsor, if one is being engaged)
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible Applicants
- Must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit, local government agency, or Tribal Nation present in NYS; OR an individual artist, collective, or other unincorporated entity
- Location
- For individuals: must be a resident of Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, or Oswego counties
- For organizations: must have a permanent address in Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, or Oswego counties
