Briton Hearts the Arts rental assistance grant
To support local artists and strengthen Brighton’s downtown arts community, BURA created the Brighton Hearts the Arts grant program to help artists and arts organizations offset the cost of leasing physical space within the downtown urban renewal area.

- Brighton Hearts the Arts Rental Assistance Grant
- The Brighton Urban Renewal Authority (BURA) created the Brighton Hearts the Arts grant program to help local artists who occupy physical space in the downtown urban renewal area with their rental costs.
- Façade Improvement Grant
- BURA is also accepting applications for the Façade Improvement Grant, which is available to downtown businesses seeking to improve the exterior appearance of their storefronts. The program is intended to enhance visual appeal, encourage reinvestment, and attract increased patronage within the downtown urban renewal area.
Funding Information
Applicants may request funding for up to 50 percent of their annual lease, not to exceed $15,000 per award.
Eligibility Criteria
- Brighton Hearts the Arts Rental Assistance Grant
- Arts-focused nonprofit organizations designated as 501(c)(3) entities in good standing.
- For-profit art galleries, museums, and art studios whose primary mission is to exhibit, create, present, and/or sell artistic work accessible to the public.
- Façade Improvement Grant
- The Grant Program is eligible to commercial and residential buildings within the Core BURA plan area An owner or tenant of a building within the Grant Area may apply for grant funding. Tenants must provide written approval from the owner of the building to submit a Grant Program application. Only one application may be submitted by an applicant per grant cycle. An applicant that has an outstanding grant award that has not been completed pursuant to the Application Process described in these Guidelines is ineligible for a new grant award until all outstanding work on any previous grant is complete.
