Now in its third year, this initiative strengthens non-profit organizations and creates a network of financial coaches that empower communities with financial literacy.
Since 2024, 276 clients have enrolled into the financial coaching program through partnerships with five nonprofits; San Pablo Economic Development Corporation, AGC Construction Education Foundation, C.O.P.E. Family Support Center, Opportunity House, and Safequest Solano.
- These clients have reduced over $398,100 in consumer debt.
- 50% of clients have improved credit scores by an average of 29 points, opening doors to housing, employment, and lower-interest loans.
- 51 clients have enrolled into the foundation’s 1:1 matched savings initiative, encouraging the establishment and long-term use of savings accounts.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations benefiting people in the counties of Napa, Solano, Yolo, Contra Costa, and Merced.
- Organizations classified as public charities.
- Organizations with the ability to reach diverse communities to include those that are unbanked/underserved.
- Organizations that do not discriminate by race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status.
- Organizations with the capacity to allocate time and resources for 2 staff members to become financial coaches (self-study) and provide 10 or more 1-hour financial coaching sessions to beneficiaries each month.
- Organizations that are willing to promote their participation in the Financial Coaching Grant Program and acknowledge funding received from Travis Credit Union Foundation in traditional and social media.
