The mission of the Messer Construction Co. Foundation assists in carrying out Messer’s commitment to be an involved corporate citizen.
Priorities
The foundation has identified four distinct funding priorities:
- Economic Inclusion
- Foundation grant making will focus on organizations requiring capital expenditures to create a more diverse workforce, provide practical approaches to supporting diversity or provide cost-effective methods for Economic Inclusion.
- Education
- Elementary/Secondary Education:
- Maintaining or improving quality of life and standards of living require a nation of highly skilled workers. To reach this goal, every student must be prepared to perform and have a baseline education that propels lifelong learning. Grant making will focus on capital expenditures that make this possible.
- Higher Education:
- The foundation recognizes the invaluable contributions made by institutions of higher education in both advancing technology and educating future leaders of construction. Grant making will focus on programs and collaborative initiatives requiring capital expenditures that will prepare these construction leaders.
- Elementary/Secondary Education:
- Workforce Development
- Amazing things can happen when people have access to the right resources to help them pursue their dreams.
- Consideration will be given to organizations and programs requiring capital expenditures that promote training and essential skills necessary for workers to succeed.
- Environmental Stewardship
- The foundation seeks creative solutions for making the built environment more sustainable. Consideration will be given to organizations and programs requiring capital, research or programming expenditures that reduce negative environmental impacts
Funding Information
It is the foundation’s intention to award grants in the amount of $30,000 each.
Geographic Funding Priorities
- Consideration will only be given to proposals that benefit the communities where company employees live and work.
- Consideration will only be given to proposals that benefit the communities where company employees live and work. Currently, 12 greater metropolitan areas qualify: Indianapolis, Indiana; Greenville, South Carolina; Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky; Northern Kentucky; Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina; Cincinnati, Columbus, and Dayton, Ohio; and Knoxville and Nashville, Tennessee
Eligibility Criteria
The foundation only awards grants to community-based 501(c)(3) organizations, qualified educational institutions and other exempt organizations that reflect Messer values, and that focus their efforts and results within Messer regions. Organizations that are controversial or that require significant transfer of local funds to national or international parent organizations will not be considered
