The FY26 School Readiness Impact Grant supports efforts to expand equitable access to high-quality early learning, enhance program quality, and advance workforce stability. Workforce investments, including teacher compensation and retention supports, may be included when they directly support access, quality, or sustainability goals.
The United Way of Greater Charlottesville (UWGC) Early Childhood Impact Grant supports initiatives that strengthen school readiness across the Greater Charlottesville region by expanding equitable access to high-quality early childhood care and education (ECCE), enhancing program quality, and advancing systems that support children, families, and the early childhood workforce.
This application includes two tracks to ensure equitable access to funding:
- Direct service Early Childhood Care & Education Providers delivering classroom-based early learning; and
- Early Childhood Partner Organizations that strengthen quality, access, and school readiness through systems-level, capacity-building, or technical support efforts.
Funding Focus Areas
- Increasing Access and Program Expansion
- Expanding equitable access to early childhood education for children and families by increasing program capacity, addressing barriers to enrollment, enhancing classroom or program infrastructure, and/or adding or stabilizing staffing to support high-quality learning environments.
- Enhancing Program Quality
- Strengthening the quality of early learning experiences through curriculum implementation, learning environments, professional development, coaching, family engagement, or other evidence-informed practices that improve child outcomes and school readiness.
Priorities
Given limited funding availability, UWGC anticipates strong interest in this grant. Priority will be given to proposals that demonstrate clear impact on school readiness, including those that:
- Expand access to high-quality early learning opportunities for underserved children and families;
- Strengthen program quality through evidence-informed practices; and/or
- Support workforce stability and effectiveness as a strategy to improve child outcomes.
