Youth Engagement Grants are competitive awards with a maximum award amount of $100,000 that support organizations to pilot strategies that increase awareness of, access to, and participation in Registered Apprenticeship Programs by youth ages 16-24 in Colorado. Eligible entities include, but are not limited to, school districts; institutions of higher education; community-based organizations; trade associations; state or local agencies; Registered Apprenticeship Program Sponsors, Employers, and Related Instruction Providers; and Qualified Apprenticeship Intermediaries.
Eligibility Criteria
Entities that are eligible to apply for the Youth Engagement Grants include single or groups of organizations that are positioned to increase access to Registered Apprenticeship Programs for youth ages 16-24 in Colorado. Examples of youth engagement include, but are not limited to:
- Outreach, recruitment, and selection strategies that include youth
- Adjustment of Registered Apprenticeship Standards to increase youth access
- Inclusion of youth providers/high schools in Outreach, Recruitment, and Retention plans
- Quality pre-apprenticeships with an articulated relationship to a registered apprenticeship with an emphasis on youth
- Hiring of dedicated staff to increase youth access to registered apprenticeship
