This competitive fund invests in projects that enhance quality of life for residents and connect with one or more of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan’s focus areas:
- Economic Opportunity
- Creating pathways to stable employment, entrepreneurship and financial security for individuals and families.
- Health Equity
- Increasing access to quality healthcare, improving health outcomes and providing essential services to meet basic needs.
- Youth and Education
- Supporting literacy, youth development and lifelong learning — from early childhood to adulthood.
- Arts and Culture
- Strengthening creative contributions to the civic, social and cultural infrastructure that enhances the region’s vibrancy.
- Public Space and Environment
- Investing in parks, trails and climate-smart infrastructure that improve environmental health and quality of life.
Priorities
Competitive proposals will:
- Address critical community needs within the three target neighborhoods
- Demonstrate clear benefit to residents and neighborhood quality of life
- Build on existing efforts or neighborhood planning priorities
- Introduce innovative or creative approaches to local challenges

- Capital improvements tied to community benefit

Grant Amount: $2,500 – $10,000.
Grant Period
12–24 months
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, or have a fiscal sponsor with 501(c)(3) status
- Be located in, or primarily serves residents of, the three target communities
- Schools, government entities, and universities are eligible
- In limited cases, organizations not physically located in the target communities may be considered if their work directly serves residents
- Grants will not be made to individuals.
Ineligibility
They do not prioritize:
- Capital campaigns
- Annual fund drives
- Conferences or event sponsorships.
