Details:

The SNAP Longitudinal Data Project (LDP) Grant Program will support States as they develop new efforts, or improve existing ones, to share SNAP data as part of the SNAP LDP.

There is no single solution or approach to data sharing, and each State may require a different approach to enable longitudinal research. FNSacknowledges the need for flexibility to support State participation and data sharing and therefore aims to support these unique and State specific needs through the grant program.

The overarching goal of the SNAP LDP is to enable longitudinal research on participation in and the operation of SNAP over time and across state lines. Grant requests must address this overarching goal through Objective:

  • On an annual basis, securely share and/or enable the secure sharing of the monthly required data elements for the SNAP LDP with FNS/Census Bureau.
  • On an annual basis, securely share and/or enable the secure sharing of the monthly optional  data elements for the SNAP LDP with FNS/Census Bureau.
  • Improve the evaluation of SNAP data across State lines by progressing toward a standardized data format to enable data comparison.
  • Enable SNAP longitudinal research.
