Performing Arts Disovery (PAD): An International Showcase Opportunity

Performing Arts Disovery (PAD) is an international showcase opportunity for U.S.-based performing artists who are ready to tour internationally.

Donor Name: National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)

Country: U.S.

State: All States

Type of Grant: Showcase

Type of Entity: Artists

Deadline (mm/dd/yyyy): 01/07/2022

Details:

Performing Arts Discovery (PAD) is a program funded by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). PAD is managed by WAA on behalf of the U.S. Regional Arts Organizations (RAOs). The NEA launched PAD in 2015 to promote U.S. artists to international programmers, festival directors, and venue managers.

PAD provides virtual international showcase opportunities for U.S.-based performing artists who are ready to tour internationally.

The purpose of the PAD program is to introduce international presenters to U.S. performing artists and companies, thereby reducing barriers for American artists overseas. The primary objective for 2021 is the creation of 30 professionally-produced live performance videos for international markets.

Applications are open to music, dance, and theatre artists/ensembles with a demonstrated capacity to tour internationally.

For 2021, given the COVID-19 pandemic and limits on international travel, the structure of the program shifted, inviting artists/ensembles to apply to PAD and providing those selected with an international virtual showcase opportunity.

Program Benefits

  • The purpose of the PAD program is to introduce international presenters to U.S. performing artists and companies, thereby reducing barriers for American artists overseas.
  • Artists/ensembles accepted into the PAD program — PAD Delegates — receive support from our expert video production team to create a professionally-produced live performance video which will be promoted and showcased on a virtual cloud-based platform for international markets.
  • There is no application fee for PAD.
