The NCCSCL’s grantmaking strategy supports Latinx-led organizations and networks working on building Long-term power among the Latinx community in North Carolina. The NCCSLC is inviting proposals and make grants to a variety of recipient organizations or networks.

Details:

The North Carolina Collaborative for Strong Latinx Communities (NCCSLC) offers funding, support, and resources toward a North Carolina that has:

  • Increased voice and leadership of Latinx communities in all sectors
  • Well-resourced and resilient organizations serving, led by, and accountable to Latinx communities
  • Strong connections and collaboration among Latinx organizations across the state
  • Vibrant intersectional work among Latinx and other communities

Examples

Examples include:

  • Frontline community-based organizations and networks working on community protection as well as other immediate threats.
  • Networks working on creating spaces for collective learning, analysis, and strategy development.
  • Organizations and networks working on building long-term power among immigrant communities.
  • Organizations and broader networks interested in building their advocacy capacity, including community empowerment education.
  • Healing Justice.

Funding Information

  • This will be their 4th funding cycle focused on providing 2-year grants for general operating support to Latinx-led organizations.
  • The total amount available for this round of grants is $700,000.
  • The intention is to fund 15-25 groups with grants ranging in size from $5,000/year to a maximum of $25,000/year.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Organizations or groups led by, serving, and accountable to Latinx people and communities.
  • They will give priority to organizations led by Latinx staff. They also encourage strong representation of Latinx folks on Boards of Directors and/or leadership bodies for the organization.
  • They have a statewide focus, with a priority to support rural and/or under-resourced areas.
  • Their emphasis is on supporting grassroots, community-based organizations and infrastructure.
  • They define infrastructure as anything that can deepen the reach and depth of an organization’s work and strengthen its capacity to serve the Latinx community in the long-run.
  • They define grassroots groups as: groups/organizations/collectives of 3 or more people who work together on their own initiative to contribute to the integral development of their locality and solve problems of an economic, social and cultural nature.
  • They will give priority to groups/organizations with limited budgets (of $500,000/year or less)
  • They will provide grants to both groups who previously received funding from the NCCSLC and groups that have not previously received a grant.
