Communities of Giving Legacy Initiative’s Community Service Awards 2022 (New York)

The Communities of Giving Legacy Initiative (CGLI) is pleased to announce that the nomination process for the Judge Hugh B. Scott – Community Service Award and the Inspiring Youth – Community Service Award is now open.

Details:

The Communities of Giving Legacy Initiative has established two community service awards to honor the legacy of Justice Hugh B. Scott:

  • The Judge Hugh B. Scott Community Service Award.
  • The Inspiring Youth Community Service Award.

You may nominate one candidate for either community service award. Or, you may select a different candidate for each award.

  • The Judge Hugh B. Scott – Community Service Award
    • This award recognizes a person between the ages of 21 to 40 from a WNY Community of Color who exemplifies a commitment to creating positive change in the lives of youth of color through community service, civic engagement, or volunteerism.
  • The Inspiring Youth – Community Service Award
    • This award recognizes a trailblazing youth between the ages of 13 and 20 from a WNY Community of Color who exemplifies a commitment to creating positive change through community service, civic engagement, or volunteerism above and beyond activities required or sponsored by school or youth programs.

Funding Information

The Judge Scott awardee will receive a specially designed free-standing piece. A donation of $2,500 (two thousand five hundred dollars) will be made to a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization chosen by the awardee as well.

The Judge Hugh B. Scott

  • The ideal candidate(s) will meet the following criteria:
    • Gives time and talent to help create positive change in the lives of youth of color in the community.
    • Inspires others to work collaboratively.
    • Demonstrates commitment to initiate change by addressing a social issue(s).
    • Encourages and embraces diversity among ethnic and racial groups.
    • Inspires philanthropy within WNY Communities of Color.

The Inspiring Youth

  • The ideal candidate(s) will meet the following criteria:
    • Gives time and talent to help create positive change in their community.
    • Inspires others to work collaboratively to address social issue(s).
    • Embrace diversity among ethnic and racial groups.
