ARPA is a $1.9 trillion federal economic stimulus bill. The City of Scranton has been awarded $68.7 million in ARPA funds to respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency and its economic impacts. The mission of Scranton’s ARPA program is to give people access to resources, rebuild the infrastructure systems that impact their everyday lives, and foster equitable wealth generation that targets the needs of Scranton residents.
Funding Areas
Grant funding may be used to support eligible programs and support systems focused on areas including, but not limited to:
- Drug overdose prevention programs
- Prevention, treatment, crisis care, support groups, and outreach
- Costs for residence in supportive or recovery housing
- 988 National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and other hotline services
- Behavioral health response and violence prevention
- Support for domestic and sexual violence service providers
- Behavioral health facilities and equipment
- Wellness programs
- Supporting physical, mental, and emotional well-being related to chronic disease, behavioral health, cancer screening, and more
Funding Information
- Drug overdose prevention grants of $50,000 to $100,000 each will be awarded to eligible applicants, with a total of $250,000 allotted.
- Behavioral health and violence prevention grants will be awarded in amounts up to $100,000, with a total of $500,000 in funding available.
- Wellness program grants are valued at up to $50,000 per organization, with a total of $200,000 available.
