Details:

They look for early stage (Proof of Concept) and later stage (Accelerated) projects that:

  • Focus on existing and emerging technologies in biotechnology; aerospace, autonomous systems and defense; and energy diversification,
  • Lead to innovation, new knowledge or technology and have a high probability of leading to commercially successful products, processes or services within a reasonable period of time;
  • Are technically sound and produce measurable results;
  • Have reasonable probability to create or retain jobs, increase capital investment, and increase revenue, leading to economic impact in the state; and
  • May contribute to the Oklahoma innovation ecosystem through collaboration which may lead strong industry clusters.

Funding Information

  • Proof-of-Concept funding supports early stage applied R&D with awards of up to $90,000 for one or two years.
  • Accelerated OARS funding supports later stage applied R&D with awards of up to $500,000 for up to three years.
  • Can assist in providing third party validation of innovation.
  • Funds unproven, high-risk concepts and innovation.

Eligibility Criteria

OARS awards encourage collaborative projects among Oklahoma businesses, Oklahoma universities and colleges, and Oklahoma non-profit research organizations. These projects assist Oklahoma businesses in expanding the capacity for technological innovations and facilitate technology transfer and research involving Oklahoma colleges, universities, and businesses. OARS projects support and encourage market launch activities that benefit the state of Oklahoma.

  • Must be an Oklahoma-based company. The company must be registered with the Oklahoma Secretary of State and have a location in Oklahoma.
    • University or non-profit research institutions may serve as subcontractors.
    • A minimum of 51% of the project work funded by OCAST must be completed within the State of Oklahoma and show an economic benefit within the state.
  • Should include a Project Lead at the applicant organization. Advanced degrees are not required. It is expected that a Project Lead is housed at the Oklahoma-based facility.
  • Qualified applicants may apply if still currently involved in an OCAST-funded project (including OARS).
  • No limit on number of applications submitted in one cycle.
