Norfolk Cultural Council works to support arts and culture programs in and around the town of Norfolk.
Local Priorities
For 2023, the Norfolk Cultural Council is giving priority to grant applications for projects and programs that meet one or more of the following:
- Held within Norfolk and/or are of the greatest benefit to Norfolk residents
- Programs that are service-oriented and best meet the current needs of their community
- Programs that elevate the voices and experiences of historically marginalized groups to promote increased inclusivity in and around Norfolk
- Programs that are able to link culture and the arts to emotional well-being in times of crisis, and contribute to personal and community resiliency
The applicant’s project must be clearly related to the arts, humanities, civics, history or interpretive sciences, and embody the following values of the Massachusetts Cultural Council: Mass Cultural Council works to elevate the rich cultural life in Massachusetts. They partner with communities across the Commonwealth to expand access, improve education, promote diversity, and encourage excellence in the arts, humanities and sciences. Through their efforts, they make their state a better place to live, work, and visit for everyone. Acknowledgement of Norfolk Cultural Council support must be given during the program or project and verification of such must be provided for grant payout.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must reside or be located in Massachusetts. Local Cultural Councils may accept applications from anyone included in the following list:
- Individuals: Individual applicants must show that a public benefit results from the project for which they are applying. A public presentation of an individual’s work may provide the needed public benefit. Individual members of Local Cultural Councils may apply for funding from a Local Cultural Council but must observe all conflict-of-interest laws and regulations in the granting process. Local Cultural Councils may also establish their own rules regarding applications from council members as long as these are consistent with the state’s conflict of interest laws.
- Incorporated private nonprofit organizations.
- Unincorporated associations that can establish a nonprofit objective. A group of individuals coming together with a common purpose (e.g., local community band, theater group) that do not have nonprofit status.
- Public schools, libraries, other municipal agencies, and the Local Cultural Council itself.
- Religious organizations. Religious organizations or groups with a religious affiliation are eligible to apply for funding for cultural programming that is available to the general public. LCCs can only approve applications that are primarily cultural in their intent and do not have the effect of advancing religion.
