Dated: September 30, 2022

The Washington Women’s Foundation (WaWF) will grant ten $100,000 Rest & Repair Awards to ten Black women who have made significant contributions to Washington communities.

Donor Name: Washington Women’s Foundation (WaWF)

State: Washington

County: All Counties

Type of Grant: Award

Deadline: 10/18/2022

Size of the Grant: $100,000

Details:

As investments in Black women and Black leadership, there are no restrictions on the use of Rest & Repair Awards.

The Rest & Repair Awards are made in recognition and support of Black women leaders working in Washington State’s nonprofit sector. The Rest & Repair Cohort will decide on awardees based on evidence of the nominee’s leadership and community-building within communities that are historically underserved in the nonprofit sector.

WaWF will make five Rest & Repair Awards in 2022 and another five 2023. The application process is nomination based and nominations are open to the public. The Rest & Repair Cohort, made up of Black WaWF members and Black community members, designed the award and will decide the award recipients. WaWF and the Rest & Repair Cohort will announce the first five awards in February of 2023.

Minimum Eligibility

  • All nominees must be a Black or African American woman living in Washington State who leads, works for, or volunteers with a non-profit organization operating in Washington State; and be 18 years or older.
  • This is a celebration of Black and African American women’s leadership in Washington State. As such, only women who identify as Black or African American can be nominated.
  • Nominations cannot include current WaWF staff, Board Members, members, Rest & Repair Cohort members, or any of these groups’ immediate family members.

Nominee applications will include the following information:

  • Nominee’s full name and contact information (address, phone, and email)
  • Nominee’s resume (required)
  • Nominee’s LinkedIn link (optional)
  • Nominator’s full name and contact information (address, phone, and email)

    • Why do you believe they deserve this award?
    • Please address their leadership, community-building, and non-profit work within historically under-served communities.
  • Full name and contact information for a secondary reference (address, phone, and email)
  • One supporting statement from the secondary reference of no more than 100 words concurring with the nominator about the excellence of the nominee and their leadership, community-building, and nonprofit work within historically under-served communities.
