Areas of Interest
- Education: Support for exceptional programs that improve educational opportunities and quality of instruction for students in rural communities and disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Mental Health Services in Rural Schools: To support the need for behavioral health services in rural North Dakota, Burgum Foundation works as a partner to school districts and a variety of service providers to increase access for students needing mental health services. The partnership brings behavioral health professionals on-site, within the school, which eliminates the transportation barrier in many of these rural communities.
- Teacher Leadership Opportunities: Teacher Leadership cohorts in North Dakota are collaborations between local districts and North Dakota Universities to offer a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership for teachers. Since 2014, numerous school districts have benefited from this on-site program. TLA students complete their degrees in five semesters; this program serves schools across the state and every academy is taught in the context of the local district.
