The Professional Pathways program helps to build New York State’s economy by supporting the state’s ongoing commitment to immigrant empowerment and workforce development. Professional Pathways enables high-skilled immigrants to overcome barriers to professional development through the screening, training and/or re-credentialing of candidates and the identification of job placement opportunities in each region of the state.

Funding Information

  • The New York State Department of State (DOS) ONA through this RFA, is making available approximately $2,000,000 annually in state funding to fund this program. Under Part A, DOS will award a grant of up to $570,000 annually to one community-based not-for-profit organization to serve as the Professional Pathways Lead Agency providing workforce development technical assistance and coordination under this RFA. Under Part B, DOS will award up to eleven grants in the amount of up to $130,000 annually to community-based not-for-profit organizations in each region (“service region”) of New York State to hire and retain a network of ONA Job Coaches.
  • As stated in Section II of the RFA, grant contracts are anticipated to be executed for one year with two optional one-year renewals.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a not-for-profit organization located within New York State. Not-for-profit organization shall mean any not-for-profit corporation exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Applicant must be pre-qualified within the Grants Gateway as of the application due date listed on the cover of this RFA.
  • All applicants intending to subcontract work under this grant must complete and execute a letter of intent with each eligible subcontractor that specifies all services each partner agrees to provide.
