To provide resources to deliver the benefits of parks and recreation to all Iowa communities.
Purpose
The Iowa Foundation for Parks and Recreation is organized and operated exclusively for the benefit of and to carry out the purposes of the leisure movement in Iowa by:
- Promoting and improving leisure opportunities and amenities in Iowa.
- Furthering the course of research and development in all areas of leisure in Iowa.
- Providing scholarships on a nondiscriminatory basis to worthy students enrolled in professional development programs in parks and recreation or related fields of study at post secondary institutions of higher learning in Iowa.
- Facilitating the availability of technical assistance to leisure organization in Iowa.
- Promoting leisure awareness among the general public of Iowa.
Funding Information
Mini Grants for Iowa communities of 10,000 or less.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be a local organized on-going agency/group/organization/association or Park & Recreation Department within an Iowa community with a population of 10,000 or less according to the latest census.
- A match of a minimum of 50% of the requested grant amount is required. Match may be cash, donated items, or donated labor. Labor=hourly value of $10/hr.
- IFPR grant money must be used to complete the project, or the project must have a letter of commitment to support the remaining project balance.
- Grant money is to be used for hard assets only (e.g. equipment, supplies, brick/mortar). No consumables, administrative/indirect costs, or personnel expenses.
- Project may be a physical item, recreation program, or event.
- Project must be completed within one year of the grant award.
- Project must be available and open to the general public.
- 2022 grant recipients must wait one year before reapplying for the IFPR Mini Grant.
