Sarasota Bay Partners Grants are competitive awards (up to $10,000 in 2022) for projects in the Sarasota Bay watershed that promote habitat and water quality restoration, environmental education, community involvement, and stewardship to improve the overall quality of Sarasota Bay and its tributaries.

Details:

The mission of the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program’s (SBEP) Sarasota Bay Partners Grants program is to improve the overall quality of Sarasota-Manatee area bays, their tributaries, and their watersheds and to promote environmental education and community involvement in SBEP’s mission. To further these goals, funding is available for projects that focus on Habitat Restoration and Water Quality and Bay-Related Environmental Education and Community Stewardship.

2022 Sarasota Bay Partners Grants Priority Issue

Priority will be given to projects that treat stormwater runoff through the installation of green infrastructure projects.

Example projects include:

  • Installing rain gardens and bioswales to filter runoff from parking lots, roads, and other impervious surfaces.
  • Planting trees in highly paved urban areas.
  • Diverting gutter downspouts from impervious surfaces to planter boxes, garden beds, or other permeable areas, or to rainwater harvesting systems like rain barrels and cisterns.
  • Enhancing bay, creek, or pond shorelines with Florida native plants, including installing living shorelines and vegetated buffer zones.
  • Replacing impervious areas like parking lots with pervious pavement or other sustainable solutions.

Funding Information

A maximum amount of $10,000 may be awarded to each applicant.

Timeframe

Eligible project timelines must begin no earlier than June 2022 and end no later than August 2023.

Organization Eligibility

  • Non-profit, for-profit, schools and government organizations located within the greater Sarasota Bay watershed are eligible to receive funding.
  • A federal employer identification number (FEID) or state tax exemption is required for the issuance of a purchase order for disbursement of grant funds. Funds will not be awarded to individuals.
