The KCMSA Foundation awards Mini Grants to charities that support and promote the health and well-being of individuals, programs and organizations in greater Grand Rapids. The Foundation also incorporate the health needs of our community identified in the Kent County Community Health Needs Assessment as additional criteria when assessing grant applications. This study found four major health issues facing there community: mental health, substance abuse, obesity, and poor nutrition. The Foundation has a long history of bridging the gap for individuals when insurance and Medicaid will not cover essential items for their health and wellbeing. The Foundation will continue to accept grants from nonprofit organizations requesting funds on behalf of an individual’s health need.
Funding Information
Each Mini Grant request should not exceed $3,000. Applications are received on an on-going basis from organizations with a 501(c)(3) status. Individual requests may be made through an organization that meets this requirement.
Eligibility Criteria
Considerations are given to requests that meet the following criteria:
- Provide health education, medical services, medical supplies;
- Promote social welfare;
- Demonstrate a relationship between the proposal and the goal of the KCMSA Foundation;
- Are located in greater Grand Rapids;
- Are $3,000 or less;
- Are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization;
- Meet reporting requirements as stated on the application;
- Spend the grant dollars within one calendar year of receipt.
