The City of Doraville is accepting applications for the Small and Local Business Façade Improvement Grants to assist property owners and tenants with improving the aesthetics of their business establishment to help revitalize the city and strengthen their local businesses.

The Grant is funded through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
The National Trust for Historic Preservation has noted that commercial building improvements have resulted in the following:
- An increase in sales in the year the improvements were made, as well as sustained increased sales for several more years,
- Attracting new businesses and shoppers to the area,
- Promoting additional improvements by the participants, and
- Encouraging neighboring properties to make improvements.
Funding Information
- Funding will be allocated in the form of grants that will provide up to 50% of the estimated work cost, up to $25,000. Grants will be available to any small/local businesses and property owners with tenants who are small business owners.
Eligibility Criteria
- Any existing business located in the City of Doraville is eligible to apply regardless of a person’s race, color, national origin, disability, age, sex, and religion. This includes ensuring access to persons with limited English proficiency.
- Only one application per owner/tenant.
- The applicant must be up to date on all permits, taxes, and other fees.
- The grant will only fund projects that improve the visual appearance of the property from the street or other public space.
- The grant will not consider applications on projects where the work has already been started.
- Eligible improvements include:
- Removing and replacing the current façade with a more appropriate and attractive designs, materials, and other detailing, which substantially improves appearance of the building.
- Exterior painting.
- Replacing of windows, doors, lighting, exterior cleaning, tuckpointing, or upgrading signs in association with other façade/landscaping improvements.
- Replacing, adding, or improving shutters, gutters, awnings, or/and any architectural elements.
- Design fees associated with the construction.
