This program provides small grants to nonprofit organizations, schools, teachers, businesses, and individuals wishing to enhance water quality and habitats in the Puyallup-White River Watershed (WRIA 10). This program is a partnership with Pierce County and the Puyallup River Watershed Council.
Grants are available for small projects that address or improve stormwater, drainage, water quality, and habitats within the WRIA10 watershed in Pierce County. Projects may include watershed education, enhancement and restoration activities, and purchase of signage, equipment or supplies.
The grant program provides resources to help make projects happen on the ground and assists those not familiar with grant writing obtain experience and funds. Common awardees including K-12 teachers, small nonprofits, college students, and individuals. The types of projects supported are environmental education, habitat restoration, monitoring, and protection and projects that foster community engagement in all the above categories.
Funding Information
The maximum grant amount is $2,500 per project, but you are encouraged to apply for less if your project does not require the full amount. The total available funding for the 2023 grant cycle is $22,375. Award decisions will be announced in May, and funds distributed in June.
Eligible Applicants
Projects must be located within the Puyallup-White River boundaries (WRIA10). PreK-16 schools, Tribes, local agencies, nonprofit organizations, students, teacher, and businesses may apply. Thanks to administration provided by the Puyallup River Watershed Council, the grant funds will be made available upon award. Expense receipts are required.
