Applications Open for Brighter Future Fund (New Mexico)

The New Mexico Oil & Gas Association (NMOGA), partnered with the Albuquerque Community Foundation (ACF) is seeking applications for its Brighter Future Fund to ensure philanthropic funds are invested strategically in communities throughout New Mexico

Details:

NMOGA is a statewide coalition of oil and natural gas stakeholders, individuals, and companies dedicated to promoting the safe and environmentally responsible development of New Mexico’s oil and natural gas resources.

NMOGA and ACF will be soliciting grant proposals Statewide in three open rounds in 2023, with different funding areas in each round. The first grant round focused on Economic Opportunities; this current round will focus on Education and a future round in 2023 will focus on Hunger.

The current round will focus on Education. Eligible organizations will provide programming that improves education for people and communities in New Mexico.

Funding Areas

Grants from the Brighter Future Fund in this round will focus on the area of Education, with specific attention to the following:

  • Education (early childhood – adult):
    • Programs that support STEM development and achievement.
    • Programs that strengthen and promote family engagement through education
    • Programs that provide training, access and/or professional development opportunities for teachers to incorporate social-emotional learning and trauma-informed learning for their students.
    • Programs that provide access to technology and distance learning for at-risk populations.

Criteria

Eligible organizations must be:

  • exempt from U.S. federal income tax pursuant to section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (the “Code”) and classified as a public charity under section 509(a)(1) or section 509(a)(2) of the Code; and/or an educational institution or governmental entity;
  • located anywhere in the United States, however a local partner supporting New Mexico is required;
  • in compliance with the IRS Guide Star Charity Check Report, NM Attorney General’s COROS filing and the NM Secretary of State.
