The Peace Studio Fellowship awards $10,000 to five artists and five journalists who are committed to transformative social change through their work. In addition to the monetary support, this cohort of peacebuilders will be granted access to The Peace Studio “Skills for Creative Peacebuilding” curriculum and guided workshops, career development resources, and connection to a network of like-minded change makers.

For the duration of this one-year program, Fellows receive support to carry out a collaborative peacebuilding project of their choice. If selected, you will be matched with a respective artist or journalist in an effort to facilitate thought partnership and/or interdisciplinary collaboration. The community to serve and the concern to address is up to you! Leveraging each other’s unique skills as artists and journalists, they can advance their positive impact.

The Peace Studio believes that a commitment to peacebuilding is living with intention and being accountable for the impact they have on ourselves, their family, their community and others. Leveraging the unique skills and platforms of artists and journalists they can work towards a better future.

The Fellowship includes:

  • Training in the Peace Studio Curriculum, an essay-based curriculum covering four modules:
    • Mediation & Conflict Transformation
    • Restorative Narrative & Strengths-Based Storytelling
    • Artist as Catalyst: Self-Efficacy & Entrepreneurship
    • Mindfulness & Reflective Practices
  • $10,000 grant disbursed quarterly
  • An all-expenses-paid kick-off retreat
  • Ongoing support in the planning, developing, and creation of a peacebuilding project
  • Opportunity to showcase your peacebuilding project via The Peace Studio network
  • Regularly scheduled virtual sessions with other cohort members, guest practitioners in the field (both arts and journalism professionals), and Peace Studio staff
  • Access to a Creative Community with whom you can collaborate

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to participate in this Fellowship, applicants must meet all the requirements listed below. Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • You must currently reside in the United States.
  • You must be a practicing artist or journalist.
  • You are able to collaborate with others and have a strong sense of accountability.
  • You must be able to attend all days of the Fellowship Retreat (September 10th -14th) Travel, lodging, and meals will be provided by The Peace Studio.
  • You can commit to participating in regularly scheduled virtual meetings.
