Goals
- In addition to documenting, reviewing, evaluating, and developing strategy and content of the two curricula, the successful applicant must complete the following goals during the project period. The program narrative should reflect how the applicant will accomplish these activities.
- Work under this twelve-month cooperative agreement involves the capture of curricula through the complete documentation, review, and evaluation of two curricula—NIC’s Executive Excellence Series (EE) and NIC’s Pretrial Executive Directors Orientation Program—via in-person, virtual, and/or field deliveries of the programs.
- NIC defines “curriculum capture” as capturing the totality of the training program, including:
- Readiness activities that NIC performs with selected agencies and participants
- Pre-program and intersession communications that NIC has with program participants and agency leaders
- Travels to field training sites for in-person activities
- Face-to-face training content and activities
- Virtual content and activities
- Intersession communication and activities with participants and agency leadership
- Evaluation, follow-on, and support phases of the programs.
Objectives
The awardee will complete the following:
- Kick Off Meeting: The NIC Program Manager and the awardee will set a date and time for an initial kickoff meeting to begin work.
- Audit Current Course Materials Using NIC’s Course Design Audit Checklist: The awardee will audit existing curriculum package materials for both courses using NIC’s course design audit checklist, which NIC will send to the awardee.
- Curriculum Capture / Course Documentation / Course Development Begins: The awardee begins documentation and any needed curriculum development on both curricula based upon audit checklist results and meeting with NIC.
- Delivery of Draft Documented Materials / Course Development for NIC Review: As documented materials / any needed new curriculum development is accomplished, NIC and awardee will begin review of each piece and make recommendations for further changes.
- Delivery of Course Evaluation and Recommendations for Revising Content, Delivery Strategies, and Materials for the Two Programs: As course documentations and new curriculum development are accomplished, the awardee will begin compiling the results of the course audit checklists, recommended content revisions, delivery strategies, training material edits, and recommendations into a review-and-evaluation report for each program.
Types of Programs
- Executive Excellence Series
- NIC’s Executive Excellence Series is a blended program consisting of three phases over the course of a year. Phase one is a two-week (80 hours plus), in-person experience composed of daily classroom and evening activities. Phase two is composed of six monthly virtual sessions of up to three hours each. Phase three is a one-week (40 hours), in-person experience that culminates the program. Pre-session and intersession activities before, during, and after each phase include accessing/utilizing a Web-based online assignment portal for instructions, participant materials, and other items; online assessments; reading assignments; small group and individual assignments; individual leadership coaching; and the development and execution of an executive leadership development plan (ELDP).
- Pretrial Executive Directors Orientation Program
- This is a 32-hour instructor lead training designed to enhance the leadership capacity of pretrial professionals who are required to influence sound pretrial policy and practice. The training has presession assignments, such as reading assignments and an agency assessment. In-person work includes lectures, small group work, and individual assignments. The training provides participants with a collaborative learning and problem-solving environment designed to strengthen networking and resources required to manage the complexities of the parole executive position.
Funding Information
NIC expects to make one award for as much as $1,000,000.00 for a 12-month project period, beginning on August 25, 2023. Requests for amounts more than a total of $1,000,000.00, including direct and indirect costs will not be considered.
Eligibility Criteria
- NIC invites applications from nonprofit organizations (including faith-based, community, and tribal organizations), for-profit organizations (including tribal for-profit organizations), and institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education). Recipients, including for-profit organizations, must agree to waive any profit or fee for services. Foreign governments, international organizations, and non-governmental international organizations/institutions are not eligible to apply. Proof of 501(c) (3) status as determined by the Internal Revenue Service or an authorizing tribal resolution is required
- NIC welcomes applications that involve two or more entities; however, one eligible entity must be the applicant and the others must be proposed as subrecipients. The applicant must be the entity with primary responsibility for administering the funding and managing the entire program. Only one (1) application will be accepted from a submitting organization.
