The Core Grants Program primarily supports grassroots organizations and networks headquartered in the United States.
The Fund is committed to investing at least 75% of grant funds in BIPOC-led work. Frontline organizations led by and serving farmers, farmworkers, fisherpeople, and food workers are also a high priority. The Fund is also prioritizing proposals from frontline organizations working to take on corporate consolidation and power in food and agriculture while actively confronting racism and white supremacy.

Funding Information
Core Grants range from $20,000 to $30,000 over a one-year timeline, with an average grant award of $25,000; or a maximum of $50,000 for a two-year timeline.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a grassroots organization or network with 501(c)(3) status or with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. The Fund prioritizes frontline organizations serving impacted communities often hit first and worst by decisions and systems that create and perpetuate crisis and who are at the forefront of advancing community-led change;
- Have an average annual revenue of less than $3 million;
- Clearly demonstrate an organizational analysis of structural and institutional racism in the food and farm system, as well as a clear understanding and strategy as to how the organization works to advance racial equity and justice;
- Clearly demonstrate a commitment to integrating the leadership of its constituents within the organization’s staffing, advising, or governance structures;
- Clearly demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship and ecological resilience in their food and farm systems;
- Be collaborative in approach and practice.
