The The Arizona Citrus Research Council (ACRC)’ has established a Grant program to assist Arizona Citrus producers in identifying solutions to production issues.

Details:

The Arizona Citrus Research Council was created by statute to support the development of citrus research programs and projects within the Arizona citrus industry. Council programs and projects target production, plant pest and disease control, efficient fertilization and irrigation techniques, and varietal development. The Council is comprised of five producers appointed by the Governor:

  • Two from district one (including Yuma County)
  • One from district two (Maricopa, Pima and Pinal Counties)
  • Two producers at large

For this grant solicitation, the ACRC requests that applicants focus proposals in the following five areas:

  • Pest Eradication including insects, weeds and disease;
  • Citrus production, harvest and post-harvest techniques;
  • Citrus Varietal Development;
  • Technology Enhancements; or
  • Genetically designed trees to be HLB/ACP resistant.

Funding Information

For this grant cycle, approximately $75,000 is available for the ACRC grants.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Research, development and survey programs concerning varietal development.
  • Programs for citrus pest eradication.
  • Programs concerning production, harvesting, handling and hauling from field to market.
  • Any other programs, excluding sales or marketing, that the ACRC deems to be appropriate for the purposes of A.R.S.

Evaluation Criteria

The following criteria shall be used by the ACRC for evaluating grant applications and awarding the ACRC funds.

  • The applicant’s successful completion of prior research projects,
  • The extent to which the proposed project identifies solutions to current issues facing the Citrus industry,
  • The extent to which the proposed project addresses future issues facing the Citrus industry,
  • The extent to which the proposed project addresses the findings of any industry surveys conducted within the previous year,
  • The appropriateness of the budget request in achieving the project objectives,
  • The appropriateness of the proposal time-frame to the stated project objectives, and
  • Relevant experience and qualifications of the applicant.
