The mission of the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville is to mobilize generosity to improve the quality of life in the community. The Racial Equity Fund addresses opportunity gaps based on race for historically disadvantaged groups.
Focus Areas
The Racial Equity Fund will provide grant funding to address opportunity gaps in the following areas that affect quality of life:
- Art & culture
- Basic needs
- Economic opportunity
- Education
- Environment
- Health & wellness
- Neighborhoods & communities
- Recreation.
Funding Priorities
Priority will be given to race-informed projects for historically disadvantaged groups that meet the following criteria:
- Strategically address one or more opportunity gaps.
- Address a desired systemic change.
- Provide clear and measurable outcomes.
- Involve more than one agency or organization and are collaborative in nature.
Funding Information
Grant Range: $5,000 – $15,000.
Eligible Expenses
- Program costs for new and/or existing programs.
- Reasonable staff and/or volunteer time and training associated with the implementation of the program/project.
- Educational or awareness events.
Geographical Focus
Greater Huntsville, Alabama (Jackson, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan Counties).
Eligibility Criteria
All grants from this Fund must be made for charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes to organizations that are described in IRS code as a 501(c)(3) public charity. Qualified organizations also include schools, religious institutions, or government agencies located in the Greater Huntsville area.
