Cary’s Policy for Support and Sponsorship of Cultural Groups and Activities supports the administration of granting funding to local non-profit cultural organizations.
For the Fiscal Year of July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026 (FY26), $191,000 will be allocated for distribution to support Cary’s cultural arts non-profit organizations.

- General operating expenses
- Administration expenses
- Organizational development and capacity building.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a Cultural Arts Grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Nonprofit Status: The applicant must be a non-profit arts/cultural organization with 501(c)3 state and federal tax-exempt status and in good standing with their state of incorporation.
- Cary focus: The applicant must be based in Cary or the surrounding region and operate a majority of its programs, activities, or services in Cary for Cary citizens.
- Artistic focus: The grant is available to organizations with a mission and demonstrated commitment to supporting Cary arts and culture, including but not limited to visual arts, performing arts, cultural and arts education, cultural heritage projects, film and media arts, and multidisciplinary collaborations.
Ineligible applicants include:
- Organizations that are for-profit, political, or religious in nature are ineligible for funding.
- Individuals are ineligible for funding. Grants are limited to 501(c)(3) nonprofit cultural arts organizations.
