Details:

Through this grant opportunity, the City of Urbana seeks to fund programs and services that meet the documented needs of low-income Urbana residents, with the goal of having a lasting impact on the community.

This grant opportunity focuses on the following key service areas:

  • Family support / special needs
  • Senior services

Funding Information

In 2026, $500,000 is available for grants through the Community Services program. Individual award amounts will vary on a case-by-case basis. Average awards are anticipated to range between $15,000 and $30,000.

Grant Period

July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

The following activities are eligible under the Community Services Grant Program:

  • Personnel costs (staff salaries, wages).
  • Program materials & supplies.
  • Travel costs directly associated with operation of the program.
  • Rent/utility payments (not to exceed three months of assistance).
  • Instruction costs.
  • Facility rental directly associated with operation of the program.

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Applicant organizations must not be debarred and suspended from working on government contracts according to the System for Award Management
  • Applicant must have certificate of Good Standing with State of Illinois
  • Applicant organization must not be delinquent on federal or state taxes or owe funds to the City of Urbana.

    • IRS Tax Exempt Letter / Proof of 501 (c)(3) status
    • W-9
    • Most recent audit or certified financial statements
    • Organization budget for current fiscal year
    • Organization budget for upcoming fiscal year
    • Most recent Illinois Charitable Organization Annual Report
    • List of Board Members/Officers
  • For public, not-for-profit organizations:
    • Charter, or Articles of Incorporation
    • Bylaws
    • Illinois Sales Tax Exemption Certificate
    • W-9
    • Most recent audit
    • Organization budget for most recently completed fiscal year
    • Organization budget for upcoming fiscal year
    • List of Board Members/Officers.
