The Restaurants Care Resilience Fund is offering $5,000 grants to independent restaurants and caterers in select California counties to invest in kitchen equipment, technology upgrades, employee training, and unexpected hardships.
Eligibility Criteria
- Independent restaurants or commercial caterers located in CA owned by a CA resident.
- Must be an independently owned, for-profit business including sole proprietorships, LLC’s or Corporations that are not publicly traded (not part of a large chain or franchise); nonprofits are not eligible to apply.
- Business must have 1-5 locations.
- Apply for only one location per business owner. Each business owner is eligible for only one grant, even if they own multiple businesses or locations. If multiple applications are submitted under the same owner, only the first valid application will be considered; all others will be void.
- Annual revenue up to $3 million for that location.
- Have been open for at least one full year (Open since January 1, 2024)
- Currently open
- Commercial customer of PG&E or a commercial customer of SoCalGas (SoCalGas region covered is Orange, Riverside, San Bernadino, and Ventura Counties). You must upload a utility bill that says, “commercial customer”.
- Businesses must serve food and beverages. Example, a coffee shop that only serves coffee would not qualify. But a coffee shop that serves scones and muffins would.
- Restaurants must be brick and mortar, open to the public, have regular operating hours, and serve both food and beverages.
- If you received a grant from the Resilience Fund in the past, you are eligible to apply again. However, priority will be given to those who have not received funding from us in the past.
- Note: members of the state boards of the California Restaurant Association and California Restaurant Foundation are not eligible.
- If you received a grant from the Resilience Fund in the past, you are eligible to apply again. However, priority will be given to those who have not previously received funding from the Resilience Fund.
