The Veterans Health Initiative is a new grants program with a specific focus on supporting programs within one of the following key areas:
- Behavioral Health: Supporting veterans’ mental health needs, including for post-traumatic stress, military sexual trauma, suicide prevention, anxiety, depression, substance use disorder and other behavioral health concerns.
- Housing & Food Security: Helping veterans and their families access safe, affordable and stable housing, and essential food resources.
- Economic Opportunity: Providing veterans with the tools, resources and business connections to help them thrive professionally, including training, mentorship and networking.
Funding Information
The Foundation will award grants up to $20,000 for veterans’ organizations, serving veterans and their families.
Grant Period
The one-year grant period will commence October 1, 2025, and run through September 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a New Jersey-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit veterans’ organization that serves veterans and/or their families in New Jersey.
- Experience developing and running effective grant programs with a record of meeting veterans’ needs and delivering positive result.
- In select cases, veterans’ organizations may partner with other organizations to design and/or deliver programming; applicants should describe the nature of the relationship and their role in their proposal. For example, working with a health center to collaborate on program services that are provided.
- The Foundation does not fund endowments; hospitals or hospital foundations; individuals; political causes, candidates, organizations, and campaigns; one-day events; or fundraising events (e.g. galas, dinners, golf outings, walks, runs, races). Existing grantee organizations are not eligible to apply for this initiative.

- 990 Tax Return
- Current listing of Board of Directors
- Organizational budget
- Geography served [towns, cities, counties]
- Project description
- Project budget.
