This Request for Proposal (RFP) targets reducing fecal pollution to increase harvestable shellfish bed acreage in Puget Sound. It focuses on three investment priorities outlined in the Shellfish SIL’s FFY2021-2022 Investment Plan:
- Fund, develop, implement, and establish effective local and tribal nations pollution identification and correction (PIC) programs.
- Effectively manage and control fecal pollution and disease-causing bacteria and viruses from onsite sewage systems (OSS).
- Advance technical assistance, education, and research to motivate agricultural land users to voluntarily reduce livestock/animal manure runoff and support regulatory programs to effectively require compliance.

Eligibility Criteria
Local governments, non-profit organizations, state agencies, tribes, tribal consortia, institutions of higher learning, and special purpose districts are eligible to apply for this funding opportunity.
Geographic Scope
The proposal’s geographic focus area must be within the Puget Sound region. Priority will be given to investments that contribute to the Shellfish Bed Vital Sign target in geographic areas with potential acreage gain and/or protection of areas within Puget Sound threatened to be downgraded on the Threatened Growing Area Map, especially those with a likelihood of success within the next five years.
