The purpose of this grant program is to support studies that provide mechanistic insights into innate and adaptive immune changes that occur during the aging process. The main objective of the program is to define the contribution of age-related alterations in different components of the immune system and the functional consequences in relation to infections, vaccine responses, and chronic inflammatory conditions.
Additionally, the program aims to foster collaborative science and establish innovative approaches that accelerate the discovery of cellular changes and the underlying molecular events occurring in the aging immune system that may potentially be exploited to improve the health of older adults.
