City of Lawrenceburg Community Grant Program for Non-Profits in Indiana

Dated: July 28, 2022

The Non-profit, IRS tax exempt organizations that provide a benefit, direct or indirect, to the Lawrenceburg community and Dearborn County are welcomed to apply for the City of Lawrenceburg Community Grant Program.

Donor Name: Dearborn Community Foundation

State: Indiana

County: Dearborn County (IN)

City: Lawrenceburg

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline:

  • Phase I: 10/03/2022
  • Phase II: 09/06/2022

Size of the Grant: $100,000

Details:

The grants offered by the foundation support the needs/interests of the community in the fields of Art, Culture and Humanities, Community and Public Benefit, Education, Public Safety, Environment and Animal Protection, Human Services, and Youth Programs. The Foundation considers awarded grants to be investments in their community. DCF grants benefit the community in a variety of ways. Projects range from a fingerprint identification system for the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department and the support of the food pantries in Dearborn County to exterior maintenance at Hillforest Museum and the purchase of swift water/ice rescue equipment for Dearborn County Water Rescue.

The majority of Foundation funds awarded to non-profit, IRS tax-exempt organizations are discretionary grants for which DCF conducts a competitive review and decision-making process. The balance of Foundation grants are awarded based on recommendations by their donors and are distributed from endowment funds established by donors.

Funding Information

  • The maximum grant award allotted is $100,000 per organization per calendar year (combined Phase I & II).
    • Phase I:
      Grant applications requesting $5,000 or less will be accepted pursuant to the grant application deadlines.
      A total of $100,000 has been allocated for Phase I grant awards.
    • Phase II:
      Grants requesting $5,001 – $100,000 will be accepted during the year pursuant to the grant application deadlines.

Guidelines

  • grant funds are not granted to sustain ongoing projects/programs;
  • grant applications will be considered as long as funds are available;
  • organizations may not apply for any property improvements (buildings, fencing etc. …) to land not owned by the organization seeking the grant funds

Eligibility Criteria

  • Organizations serving residents of Dearborn County that are recognized as tax-exempt by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) under IRC section 501(c)(3) or under section 501(c) are eligible to apply for grants from DCF.
  • If a tax-exempt organization is not a 501(c)(3), then the purpose of the grant request must be charitable as defined by the IRS. Grants awarded to non-501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations will be proportionate to the charitable purpose of the grant request.
