The City of Columbia anticipates receiving approximately $1 million in FY 2024 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and $600,000 in FY 2024 HOME funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development available during 2024. The City also estimates reallocating up to $820,000 in carry-over CDBG funds and up to $370,000 in carry-over HOME funds.
CDBG Funding
CDBG funds primarily benefit low to moderate income households, and can be used for affordable housing, economic development, community facilities and neighborhood infrastructure.
HOME Funding
Eligible HOME activities include: new construction for homeownership, or for rental occupancy by households with special needs, tenant-based rental assistance, and rehabilitation for homeownership or rental occupancy. All HOME assisted housing must benefit lower income households.
