City of Janesville’s Pay It Forward Grant Program (Wisconsin)

The City of Janesville is now accepting applications for the Pay It Forward Grant program, open to local non-profits with qualifying projects that provide impactful public benefit and meet a substantiated need.

Details:

The City of Janesville has been allocated funding in the amount of $11,686,560 from the Local Fiscal Recovery Fund created by the American Rescue Plan Act. Of this funding, the City identified $4,000,000 as lost revenue and has approved that up to $2,000,000 of the lost revenue be used to create a one-time grant program called Pay It Forward. The City of Janesville will administer these funds.

Funding Information

No more than $2,000,000 will be committed to support Pay It Forward. The minimum application amount is $50,000. Applications may not exceed $1,000,000.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 organizations providing a public service to City of Janesville residents are eligible to apply for this opportunity. For-profit organizations will not be eligible.
  • Collaborative applications with one lead applicant will be accepted.
  • Projects must provide an impactful public benefit and meet a substantiated need. The following types of projects are eligible:
    • Brick and mortar projects within the City limits of Janesville
    • Capital expenses such as IT needs, vehicles, or equipment
    • Start-up costs for projects that have an identified funding source for ongoing expenses
    • Costs for time-limited program expenses. Supplanting of funds is not allowed
  • The following projects and expenses will not be eligible:
    • Brick and mortar projects outside the City limits of Janesville
    • Projects requiring ongoing funding that does not have an identified and confirmed funding source
    • Agency operating expenses, including rent or mortgage, salaries or wages, and benefits
    • Lobbying
    • Funds may not be expended for inherently religious activities, such as worship, religious instruction, or proselytization
