The purpose of this Center is to promote technology transfer, and the use of rehabilitation technology by people with disabilities.

The purpose of NIDILRR’s Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects (DRRP) is to plan and conduct research and dissemination and utilization activities to develop knowledge, methods, procedures, and rehabilitation technology that maximize the full inclusion and integration into society, employment, independent living, family/caregiver support, and economic and social self-sufficiency of individuals with disabilities, especially individuals with the greatest support needs, and to improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (Rehabilitation Act). The purposes of this particular DRRP are to conduct rigorous research, development, technical assistance, dissemination, and utilization activities to increase successful technology transfer of rehabilitation technology products and devices developed by NIDRR-funded technology grantees.

Priority

Under this priority, the Center must conduct rigorous research, development, technical assistance, dissemination, and utilization activities with the aim of increasing successful transfer of rehabilitation technology products developed by NIDILRR grantees. In planning and conducting these activities, the Center must partner with relevant stakeholders such as people with disabilities, NIDILRR’s technology grantees, trade and professional associations, industry representatives, and others as appropriate.

The Center must conduct its activities toward the ultimate aim of NIDILRR-generated technologies being used by people with disabilities, including people with disabilities who belong to underserved communities.

  • For profit organizations other than Small businesses
  • Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
  • Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education

Additional Information on Eligibility

  • States; public or private agencies, including for-profit agencies; public or private organizations, including for-profit organizations; IHEs; and Indian tribes and tribal organizations. Foreign entities are not eligible to compete for, or receive, awards made under this announcement. Faith-based and community organizations that meet the eligibility requirements are eligible to receive awards under this funding opportunity announcement.
