OJP is committed to advancing work that promotes civil rights and racial equity, increases access to justice, supports crime victims and individuals impacted by the justice system, strengthens community safety and protects the public from crime and evolving threats, and builds trust between law enforcement and the community. OJJDP seeks a training and technical assistance provider to establish a regional network of partnerships to develop and support strategies that will support Alaska Native youth’s cultural needs. The successful training and technical assistance provider will be required to engage in strategic planning that includes building sustainable capacity within Alaska Native villages and communities to address challenges of Alaska Native youths along the juvenile justice continuum, ranging from prevention to intervention and treatment.
The goal of this project is to provide comprehensive and culturally relevant training and technical assistance to support Alaska Native villages and communities in their efforts to create, expand, and/or sustain programs, services, and supports for youth.
Objectives
- The objectives of the project are:
- To provide tools and practical techniques for working across disciplines to facilitate information sharing, communication, and coordination of balanced approaches and data-driven strategies to address Alaska Native youth needs and promote an increase in protective factors to help prevent delinquency.
- To develop and provide culturally competent, community-driven, and data-driven technical assistance to assist villages and communities in preventing and addressing issues related to delinquency.
- To facilitate peer-to-peer consultation and networking between villages and communities to promote problem solving and innovation for Alaska Native youth through the exchange of information and ideas.
