This program helps families who work in essential businesses connect to the education support their kids need.
It does this by providing an opportunity for needed academic enrichment due to lost instructional time during the pandemic, helping youth thrive through the many protective factors that are integral in high-quality summer programming, and ensuring youth are ready to learn during the 2022-23 academic year. Additionally, summer programs can offer the Build, Learn, Grow Summer Scholarship program to increase the recruitment and retention of students.
Eligibility Criteria
- One adult in the household must work in an essential business such as health care, human services, education, retail, restaurant and food service, essential infrastructure, media, manufacturing and logistics, religious and charitable organizations, and many others.
- The scholarship amount is based on a family’s gross monthly income as follows. Scholarship amounts are based on total monthly family income before taxes and deductions.
- The family’s current income level meets one of the following requirements:
- If your family’s current income is less than 128% of the federal poverty level: You are eligible to apply for CCDF
- If your family’s current income is between 128% and 250% of the federal poverty level: 80% of your cost of care is covered
- If your family’s current income is between 251% and 400% of the federal poverty level: 60% of your cost of care is covered
- If your family’s current income is more than 400% of the federal poverty level: 20% of your cost of care is covered.
