Eligibility Criteria
Regional, community-based organizations (CBOs), faith-based organizations, AIDS service organizations (ASOs), past and current AU grantees from any initiative, and/or established networks of people living with HIV that meet all eligibility requirements are welcome to apply.
To be eligible for an award, applicants must adhere to the following:
- Non-Profit Status – Applicants must be non-profit, tax-exempt organizations per the guidelines set forth by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) with proper 501(c)3 status. Organizations that do not hold 501(c)3 status must have an already established relationship with a fiscal sponsor holding such status.
- Location – Only organizations located and operating in the United States, or all U.S. Territories may apply.
- Organizational Viability – Organizations should be financially secure with or without grant funds. This grant is not intended to help start new organizations or serve as a replacement for discontinued funding.
- Budget Parameters – Organizations submitting a Pre-Application should have an annual operating budget that does not exceed $1 million. Note: This parameter applies to the applicant organization, not the fiscal sponsor; the fiscal sponsor can have an annual operating budget exceeding $1 million.
- Representation of PLHIV – Representation of people living with HIV at the applicant organization is required. Strong representation tables (linked on the last page) show a commitment to building PLHIV leadership at all staffing levels and should reflect the intersections of the communities served. Organizations that do not have PLHIV will not be considered for funding.
