2022 Communities Thrive Organizational Project Grant – Maryland

The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts is excited to announce The Communities Thrive Organizational Project Grant to support small and mid-sized arts organizations in the production and presentation of artistic works, in all disciplines, accessible to the general public within the City of Baltimore. Project Grants supports—in whole or in part— specific arts projects that demonstrate originality, vision and benefit or interest to the community.

Details:

Grant awards support projects for organizations and community groups that work in a wide array of arts and culture disciplines including performing arts, media arts, visual arts, literary arts and on-line arts projects. This program is made possible with the support of the Maryland State Arts Council.

Funding Information

Applicants may apply for a $5000 project grant for arts/cultural activities taking place in Baltimore City between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023).

Note: All activities associated with project grant requests for funds must take place in Baltimore City. If the event is virtual, the organization applying for funding must be located in Baltimore City.

Who Can Apply

  • Arts and/or Cultural organizations, and community groups with 501(c)(3) status located in Baltimore City, MD
  • Cultural Organizations/ Community Groups that utilize fiduciary organizations.
  • Arts and Cultural Organizations and Community Groups with annual operating budgets less than $200,000
  • Arts and Cultural Organizations and Community Groups that have been in an organization for more than 2 years.

Applicants MUST

  • Provide either Independently Certified Audited or Reviewed Financial Statements for FY20 and FY21 for its annual budget.
  • Have a Certificate of Good Standing certifying that the applicant is a registered nonprofit corporation, in good standing, in the State of Maryland.

Who May Not Apply

  • Individual Artists/Creatives
  • Organizations that have received a Communities Thrive Organizational Project Grant within the last 12 months.
  • Units of government, including K‐12 school districts;
  • Public colleges and universities; libraries; individuals;
  • Organizations that are the primary responsibility of a government agency;
  • Private K‐12 schools; private libraries;
  • Organizations that are not in good standing with BOPA and/or not in compliance with previous grants.

Funding Restrictions

Communities Thrive Organizational Grants cannot be used for the following:

  • Religious ceremonies or events advancing or inhibiting a particular religious ideology;
  • Fundraising or advocacy of specific political causes or candidates
  • Capital improvements (facilities and equipment);
  • Agent’s fees for programs contracted through commercial agencies;
  • Travel outside of the United States.
  • Projects outside of Baltimore City.
